21ST CENTURY SKILLS
Problem solving consists of analysis, synthesis, and implementation. Rather than being looked on negatively, problems help build character, resilience and perseverance. It has been found that many young people have great difficulty applying these steps. A child who lacks problem solving skills may avoid trying new things, may ignore certain situations altogether or act rashly when presented with a problem. The Skillovate process guides children to look at problems in a creative manner, and thus not be overwhelmed by them.
It is a reasonable and step by step method of thinking about or understanding something. Logical thinking involves structure, relationships, and chains of reasoning that "make sense", or are desirable - right or wrong. As childs grow into pre-adolescents and teenagers, their logical thinking skills help them face challenges more efficiently.
Childs are inherently curious and expect varied answers every time they see something. Creativity is using this inheritance to create original ideas, think out of the box and uncover interesting state of being. Childs find it hard to pursue their creativity and imagination as they grow since they are somewhere lost in the battle of survival of the smartest.
Teamwork is a highly social activity and involves much interaction and exchanging of ideas and actions. It will help a child in all areas of their learning, and help them to feel part of a community, too. Working as part of a team will strengthen the child’s social and emotional skills, help develop their communication skills, and improve confidence. At Skillovate, group activities encourage the kids to understand and work their strengths.
